Flexaterian

Are you a vegetarian I keep being asked. A flexaterian I answer. A what? Well, I could almost call it a Healthaterian, a Blissfultarian, a Joyfultarian.

My mission statement is easy: leading a blissful life!
To live a healthy life, with good nutritious food, a healthy lifestyle of exercise and a clear joyful mind, a life of celebration with little stress and negative effects for oneself and the surroundings.

How is it done?
Choices are made in the best way according to each situation. When buying food, I look for the best ingredients I can afford. If going out I choose what will make me happy for the moment, but will also allow me to feel good later in the day or the next morning on my yoga mat. At times it means I decide to go back home and eat my own cooking. When visiting others, I will try and make the best choices, but just like when traveling, if there were something new, and maybe I would not ordinarily eat it, I will at least try it out.

What makes the difference is the goal: Being Happy. Not about following any one dogma, any one religion or guru. There cannot be any one diet, any one yoga style, or one sequence that will suit us all the time, let alone suit all beings all the time. We each have different needs, and our needs change constantly. After learning as much as possible from all sources that attract me or came my way, I make the best choice possible for each moment, while understanding that change is inevitable and thus the learning experience is constant as well. There will never be any one diet, any one path that we can all take the same way. We each have to carve our way, discovering the sculpture within.

That is why my philosophy is of being a flexaterian. We make the best choices possible for each individual according to the specific circumstances. It takes constant observation, not living in auto mode, but being present with every moment’s fragility and beauty.

May every moment present us with a new opportunity for bliss, and may we always be open to experience it.
